Nam Ly Singh's case: I do not suggest you were responsible for any unreasonable delay in this case.

Essed Noorsha: Nor in this case.

Chan How Yun: in this case you admit an oversight.

In Li Ah Shau's case: I cannot say here.

In Ferdinand Sonksen's case I did take the whole of the fees

myself before the case started from the German Consul; it was a

special case: I think I handed it to you: the estate was a poor

one: it was under $100: I think I bought stamps with part of it

and the rest I put in an envelope to be spent when it became due and handed it all over to kir. Alim Khan: the petition was sworn

on 20th. December, 1912, and stamps put on 23rd.

In fact here I did exactly what you were doing. I did not regard the Circular of 14th. November,, 1912, as applicable to

myself. I took the Circular, I think, from the General Orders:

the General Orders refer to myself. The Circular was applicable

to me. I gave you the money in Sonksen's case because it was a

special case. I saw you before the Circular and told you you must

n't take money from anyone. In Sonksen's case you broke the

General Orders and the circular on my instructions.

The giving of the number brings the file to the autention

of the Auditor: if they are not numbered the Auditor would not

look at them: Cordeiro and How Yin'e case were not numbered.

I never knew the Auditor calls for unnumbered files; the

preliminary fees are entered in the fee-book: I did not know

whether unnumbered files have been called up or not from the

Chief Justice's office. He does a test audit not a general audit.

Cordeiro and How Yin's cases would not have been traced by the

Auditor: if they had been numbered they might have been traced. I don't know where the Auditor's get their numbers from; whether from the fit fee-book or register of application. You take the numbers consecutively from a book in which petitions for probate or Letters of Administration are entered: the Auditor could take the numbers from this book: the petitions and the probates have different numbers; the probate numbers were not consecutive in
